“There’s so much irony here, I could write a poem: The kidnapper looking for help with a kidnapping.” Artemis Fowl; is the main character of Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident, by Eoin Colfer; the only human to ever successfully capture a fairy and survive; has recently discovered that his father has been kidnapped by the Russian Mafia; and needs the fairy people’s assistance to rescue him. Artemis Fowl’s father has been missing in the Arctic for nearly two years, after his an illegal business venture went bad, and Artemis has been attempting to find his father and prove to everyone else that he is alive. That in itself is no small task, but the LEP, Lower Elements Police, has discovered that the goblins have been trading with the humans for batteries, and using them to power ancient, but destructive Softnose Lasers. Artemis is extremely cunning and resourceful, but has he finally met his match?
